General Labor - Sorting and Assembly


JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY: Responsibilities include but not limited to use of manual and automatic tools, measuring critical dimensions, working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, cutting, grinding, sorting, packaging, labeling and other duties as required.


SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Use manual and automatic tools if needed
  • Grind part if it is not up to quality requirements
  • Ensure all products adhere to the production specifications of the customer
  • Paint, stencil or touch up the product before it goes onto the truck.
  • Ensure all products adhere to the production specifications of the customer.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and process sheets.
  • Read and interpret process sheets
  • Inspect all work, prior to sending it down the line
  • Read a tape measure to take critical measurements
  • Maintain safe work practices
  • Assist in training & mentoring newer employees
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment i.e. work station, lunchroom etc.
  • Present a professional image of Essex Weld Solutions, and a personal commitment to the safety and well-being of all employees.
  • Participate in continuous improvements, 5S and 8 Waste initiatives, including and not limited to processes, production flow etc.
  • Report and hazardous to the Plant Manager or Supervisor immediately so corrective action can be taken
  • Support the Health & Safety Program
  • Adhere to Section 28 of OHSA (Canada)
  • Practice safe and proper use of machinery and tools
  • Perform all other duties as required

  • Ability to Read / interpret drawings / blueprints

V. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· High School diploma with some post-HS education or equivalent job experience required.

· College/technical degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

· 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility.

Quality Lab Technician – Tube Mill

I. JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY


The Quality Lab Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing product quality, conducting inspections, and performing various testing procedures. Your duties will include monitoring ultrasonic testing, dispositioning non-conforming material, auditing inspection functions, and other tasks as required by the Quality Manager or management team.


II. SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

· Takes direction from and Reviews Mill schedule with Mill Supervisor

· Review and disposition suspect and nonconforming material.

· Assist sales team with quality-related inquiries.

· Set up, operate, and monitor NDT equipment, particularly for UT testing as per orders.

· Interpret and communicate specification information to the mill personnel.

· Utilize measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers for dimensional analysis.

· Conduct daily audits of production lines to ensure adherence to processes.

· Perform Charpy impact testing as required.

· Enter test data into SAP system.

· Ensure samples are cut for product certification.

· Analyze mill fluids using appropriate lab equipment.

· Generate MTR data for customer shipments as needed.

· Work safely following Haz Com & workplace safety practices as outlined by Custom Steel Supply policy & OSHA.

· Work from rolling schedules to ensure proper processing of material sizes, gauges, and lengths.

· Perform quality checks on size, wall, length, and flash removal to ensure product compliance with specifications.

· Observes samples as required and performs tests as required: retaining Samples

· Complete all required quality reports and file as required.

· Alerts Mill Operator of any difficulties with machinery

· Report any irregularities or malfunctions to managers or maintenance.

· Maintain a clean and safe work area and equipment.

· Follow verbal and/or written instructions and comply with safety protocols and PPE requirements.

· Perform other duties as assigned.


III. QUALIFICATIONS

· Ability to follow written/verbal instructions, basic computer skills, and proficiency in reading

measuring devices/equipment and basic math.

· Ability to pass and maintain Non-Destructive Level I for UT.

· Proficiency in computer usage and Microsoft Office tools.

· Excellent verbal communication and written skills.

· Previous work experience in an industrial environment preferred.

· High School diploma with some post-HS education or equivalent job experience required.

· Ability to follow written/verbal instructions, basic computer skills, and proficiency in reading micrometers.

· Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

IV. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull; capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

· Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8-10 hours per day.

· Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods to cover shifts.

· Flexibility to bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push, and pull, with the capability to reach in all directions.

· Other physical requirements as needed for the job.

· High School diploma/GED required.

· 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility.

Prototype Welder

 

I. JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:

Responsibilities include but not limited to, building prototypes in a timely manor, building quality jigs and fixtures for production, reading blueprints and interpreting them accurately, prepping own material by blueprints to produce the finished product, working with customer to confirm and validate finished product before moving to production, and other duties as required.


SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT: MUST BE AWS D1.1 QUALIFIED in GMAW

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

· Lay out, fit and weld base weldments from start to finish (Prep to steel only completion)

· Analyze and interpret blue prints and process sheets

· Weld in various positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead etc)

· Weld sub-assemblies and racks as per process sheets and blue prints

· Ensure all products adhere to the production specifications of the customer

· Build jigs & fixtures to be used by production welders. Be on site if any changes need to be made.

· Operate manual or semi automatic welding equipment

· Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment

· Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears or other metal straightening and bending machines

· Operate hand tools

· Read a tape measure to take critical measurements

· Maintain safe work practices

· Conduct repairs, modifications or retrofits

· Assist in training & mentoring newer employees

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment i.e. work station, lunchroom etc.

· Present a professional image of Motor City Racks, and a personal commitment to the safety and well being of all employees.

· Participate in continuous improvements including and not limited to 5S, processes, production flow etc.

· Report any hazards to the Plant Manager or Supervisor immediately so corrective action can be taken.
